A five-minute worry diary, and why it works

Dr. Hanne Vos
Clinical psychologist · CBT

Write the worry, the time and what you did next. That’s it. After a week, the pattern usually shows itself.

What to look for

The same time of day. The same trigger. The same thing you do to feel better that doesn’t last. Bring the diary to your session; it saves a lot of guessing.

Try this tonight

  1. Use one line per worry.
  2. Rate it from one to ten.
  3. Note what you did next, honestly.
